Dora ID
ON-AIR PROMO, CONCEPTING, STORYBOARDING | ROLE: DESIGNER
At Nickelodeon, my team was tasked with creating IDs to promote the new Dora series. Each of us developed original concept ideas, which we then presented for selection and potential production. The goal was to capture Dora in a fun, engaging way that aligned with the colorful, playful spirit of the 3D Nick Jr. rebrand world. My concept, Parade, was selected for final production.

THE CONCEPT + INITIAL DEVELOPMENT
In a vibrant jungle, Dora leads a lively parade with a magical baton, unaware that Swiper is plotting to steal it. As he sneaks closer, Dora activates the baton’s powers, turning Swiper into a towering parade float. Comically squished against the camera, he rises into the sky, revealing the Nick Jr. logo behind him. This playful and adventurous scene perfectly captures the celebratory spirit of the new Dora series.
Developing this concept into the final animation involved storyboarding and creating style frames to establish both the narrative flow and the overall visual direction. Moodboards were also used to define the look and feel of the piece. I contributed by developing and presenting the initial concept that was selected, as well as creating the storyboards and style frames. Additionally, we refined the character designs to better align with the stylized world of the animation.

CULTURAL RESEARCH AND REFERENCES
The instruments were designed to function as both visual storytelling tools and motion drivers within the ID. Beyond fitting the overall visual style, their forms, patterns, and color palettes were inspired by instruments and cultural motifs rooted in Dora’s Hispanic and Latin American background. This approach allowed the instruments to feel playful and expressive while reinforcing cultural authenticity and narrative meaning throughout the parade sequence.
